Where is the common ?

Coldham's Common is sandwiched between Newmarket Road, Barnwell Road, Coldhams Lane and the railway line, but its true extent is not clear until you are on it.  It is a very peculiar shape, rather resembling a blue whale and is hopefully as well protected against those with evil intentions.

The designated common includes some unexpected areas, such as the football pitches, a BMX park and several play grounds.  It also includes Cherry Hinton Brook and a wealth of quiet space and things to explore.

There are access points onto Coldham's Common :

1. From Newmarket Road next to the Abbey Road stadium (or possibly out of if you are a fan !);
2. From Coldhams Common, either from the traffic lights at Nuffield Heath Club or across the playground opposite Brampton Road;
3. From the Abbey Pool, where there is also good car parking;
4. From Barnwell Road opposite Just for Pets, where there are some parking spaces; or further south towards Sainsburys.

Once you are on the common though you can wander where you like !
